We did the work lunch here today and everyone really liked it. We had sandwiches and wraps. OMG was the chicken fiesta sandwich was really good. The fresh jalapeño roll is so freakin good. All the sandwiches start with one of there house made fresh speciality rolls. The quality of the bread is second to none. There is seven different roll flavors you can choose from. You can custom build any sandwich with any of the of the menu items if you don't like there offerings. The chicken fiesta was very good. The jalapeño roll was fresh and on the light side because it was not very dense. The outer crust was that moist lightly chewy style. The chicken is a whole chicken breast not sliced lunch meat. I ordered this because the combination of ingredients is something I just have not seen anywhere. Jalapeño roll, good cheddar cheese, chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, sour creme, black olives and red onion that I added because I thought this would complete the sandwich. All the sandwiches come with one side that is a bag of chips, pasta salad and one other salads that changes. Today was Moroccan rice which I have never had so you know that's what I'm getting. I have never had anything like this and it's hard to describe because it has precise amounts of complex flavors going on. Two kinds of rice and I think cranberries, nuts with a bunch of other ingredients I can't figure out, see my picture. It was a cold side that was on the sweet side. The texture was firm and not mushy, if you ever had left over fried rice and didn't heat it up this would be the texture. Over all I couldn't stop eating it because the taste and texture intrigued me, no way I could copy it. This creation is out of my league and why an Elm grove cafe is even offering something like this just blows me away. They do so much so right here. The fresh bread and top quality fresh ingredients really stand above most places. I didn't have the wraps but they looked amazing with hand carved meats and fresh ingredients, I'm not a wrap guy at all but I'm getting a wrap next time. The lunch items are awesome but the breakfast was not so much, pre made and microwaved. When you go here for breakfast all you can hear is microwave beeps and doors opening and closing. Over all this place rocks.

There is always a juxtaposition with hidden gems. It's hidden and awesome, but when you overshare--as I am about to do--you worry that it will now become well-known and less of a gem. It will certainly not be hidden anymore, but it will certainly not become a dull gem. In this case, it shouldn't be hidden; everyone should know about River Mill, Jill, and the rest of the great folks that operate this beauty of a café. It's really special, from the warm greetings and humble hospitality to the homemade dressings, soups, and desserts, as well as their made-before-your-very-eyes, fresh menu items. I was frequenting this spot almost every day, and I had to take a tiny break, but that doesn't mean I adore them less. I had to pace myself. It's difficult when a restaurant has really mastered their craft and shows they care. You experience that passion the minute you walk in the door. Elm Grove has a major player on their hands. Yes, they're not open late, and you'll have to make your way between the breakfast and lunch hours, but it's worth that window of time and will have you anticipating your next visit. Take a menu with you and call it in. Even if you can't sit a spell with the ladies of River Mill, you can take a bit of "homemade" back to the office with you. I promise that your cubicle-mates will ask where you got your goodies. It's always good to be the trendsetter.

I work nearby, so The River Mill is a frequent choice for me and my co-workers. We LOVE their home-made soups, but the Taco Salad is my favorite. I try to stay gluten-free and am so grateful that they have many choices for GF. The mini-cheescakes are "just enough" to satisfy that after-lunch craving for something a little sweet (I don't eat the crust although it looks fabulous!) Now that the weather permits, the outdoor seating in the adorable courtyard is so enjoyable.

I am always looking for a good place to eat lunch that is not a chain restaurant. Many of my co-workers have been to River Mill Cafe and recommended it. I finally had a chance to get over here for lunch with another co-worker. They have a nice variety of breakfast items, salads, soups and sandwiches. We got there about 12:05p and ordered a wrap and an omelette. We waited and waited, about 50 minutes later, we finally got our food. It was not even that busy in there. There were 2 tables that came in before us and it took forever for them to get their food as well. Once we got the food, I had to scarf down my omelette in order to get back to work. My omelette was really good, fresh quality ingredients were used and baby bella mushrooms, my fave. The hashbrowns were a dissapointment though, they were burnt tasting but not crisp at all. My co-worker said her wrap was really good. The menu items are not complicated. I don't know why it took almost 50 minutes to get our food, but that is not ok for those of us that have a limited lunch hour. I did look around and everyone else in there appeared to be retired or people that were probably not on their lunch hour. I am willing to try this place again; especially, since they make homemade soups and winter is coming up, but they are going to have to quicken up the pace a bit. I understand they make their food to order and am ok with waiting a bit for quality food but not as long as I did today.I have mixed feelings about this place as everyone working there was so nice and the food was good, but the timing issue is huge.

I ordered the large chef salad because it looked good and plentiful in the picture on their site. It took them almost 30 mins to get it to me. When it finally got to me it looked small so i asked the boy if this was the large. He replied yes so i ate it. To me it was a small side salad. It did not look like the one they had on their website. I am very disappointed!

The River Mill Café relocated from Elmgrove Wisconsin. They are open for breakfast and lunch. They do a super job crafting cheesecake, salads, sandwiches and soups. I'm impressed with the variety of soups offered and the vegan and gluten-free choices. The high quality of the products they use shows in how great the food tastes. They're a little difficult to find in this new location as they are tucked in the Village Court shopping area. But please take time to find them and eat here! The food is fantastic and they have quite a bit more seating at this location compared to the old location.

A co-worker and i went for lunch the food was just okay i can say i would not go back. We both ordered wraps and they were plain with no flavor. We thought that we would try them out since they were close by our job. The service was good but the food was not there.

Had a great chicken bacon ranch wrap on a white wrap. They have sweet tomato and spinach wraps as well. Very well put together the chicken is so good and fresh the lettuce nice and crisp the bacon, you can never go wrong with it. I only are half my eyes were bigger than my stomach but very fulfilling. I can't wait to try the cheesecake. When I have room in my tummy the cute little cheesecake is going to be destroyed. I am going to try the lemon blue berry looks as delicious as it sounds

Delicious lunch. Had the Irish Stew in a bread bowl. Tender beef. Vicki had chicken Caesar and chicken avocado wrap and said both were delicious.
